Chair development/pilot program with GBRMPA for accreditation process to assess reef impacts (Reef Guardian Council).
Chair & members of the Sustainable Committee worked over 5 days in workshops with developers, architects, builders, environmentalists & national trust representatives to develop the Townsville Sustainable Plan. This was developed with staff forums promoting Sustainability i.e.:
- Hunter Lovins (Rocky Mountains Institute) public lecture 1,000 attendees
- David Suzuki presentation on forward planning for tomorrow
- Janine Benyus (USA) public forum on Biomimicry
Workshops with community & businesses developing Ecotourism Strategy to link with State and National Strategies. These proved very successful as Townsville is a stepping off place for two World Heritage Sites.
